What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy birthed from Cranial Osteopathy, by the visionary William Sutherland at the beginning of the last century. Like many holistic therapies CST has deeper interconnections with many other ancient healing modalities.
It’s a subtle, profound and gentle therapy that speaks to the inherent intelligence of the body.
When we start to understand that the whole of our history is held within our physical form. We can then begin to unravel any held traumas, physical aches, pains, blockages and emotional holdings embedded within the body. Because of the very nature of the work, deep held memories from the past can rise up, these may be implicit. Meaning ones we can’t recall but are captured inside of the body, entwined and imprinted within the tissues, fascia, fluids and viscera, which can impact the responses of the nervous system, the way these memories often try to communicate to us can be soft whispers of repeated sensations or intensely through triggered repeated sensations and feelings that can build up and impact our behaviours and responses within our lives.
Deep listening requires the qualities of sensitive attunement, coherence, presence and ventral vagal connection. This is the foundation to safety which is fundamentally needed for the system ( body) to start to unravel and heal.
A session will always begin with some intention setting and might also include fascia unwinding a gentle technique that follows the inter connected fascia system, which envelopes the whole body including the viscera, this process can free and release deep restrictions both physically and emotionally.
Integral to this work is the patient's capacity to develop the presence and awareness of how their stories are held within their bodies. Each session is unique to the individual depending on their needs.
